Backlinks usage in Search Engine Optimization
Backlinks, PR, and SERPs
Backlinks are the meat of SEO
Backlinks usage in Search Engine Optimization - Google takes into consideration the theme
and content of a page in relation to it's links. For example, let's say you have a site on cake decorating. Ten backlinks from a car
racing site will not bring much as far as SERPs (Search Engine Result Page) is concerned. But, just three backlinks from the Betty Crocker site on cake
stuff will bring you great results! There are services out there that offer relevant backlinks for purchase.
Backlinks for You
does just that.
Side effects of SEO may include higher SERP, lower SERP, blurry eyes and a caffeine addiction. Although we can't fix your rankings, Contacts can correct the eye problem.
With search engine optimization, a factor with backlinks is PR (PageRank). Google places a weight, or importance, apon a page. This is it's PR. Google determins PR by many factors, some of which is disputed within the search engine optimization arena. What is agreed apon is that backlinks from a high PR site is much better than a backlink from a low PR site. Do not, however, let PR determin whether you should share links with others.
One more thing about PR - it can be shared with other pages to a small degree. PR is "leaked" out to it's linked pages (on a minor scale). So, with relevent backlinks pointing to your main page, and your main page having relevent internal links to your sub-pages, they may benefit and gain thier own PR.
Tip #1:
Trade reciprical links with a PR5 or higher site/page of the same theme if you can. Not to say that you should overlook lower ranked pages to trade links with, do that too!
Tip #2:
Make sure your backlinks usage in search engine optimization that you offer to others for your site contain your targeted keywords! Use some, or all of, your site's title text - if your site's title is short - for your anchor text.
SEO - Backlink with your signature
Google loves backlinks!
High quality backlinks are very good to have! A backlink to your site from a high PR site (5 or more) will move you up in Google SERPs. But, that usually means you know the site's webmaster, so they agree to list you.
A better way to backlink is to use your signature in forums (such as mine, Web Standards) to add backlinks to your site.
For example, if your forum signature looks like this:
Best Regards, Martin E url: http://fiercestreetnetworks.com/
Try adding good anchor text to your link:
Best Regards, Martin E url: Web Standards
Which marks-up like this:
url: <a href="http://fiercestreetnetworks.com/" title="Web Standards">Web Standards</a>
So, how do you determin which keywords to use as your anchor text? Take a choice few words from your site's title. Here are my keywords and site title:
title: Web Standards - XHTML for content, CSS for Presentation & Accessibility
And here are my keywords:
keywords: FierceStreet Networks, Web Design, standards, accessibility, HTML, XHTML, CSS, Web Hosting, web site development, standards based web design, Web Standards, web site usability, web design standards, christian websites
I use my title text as the anchor text. How original is that? Try to find a balance between using your keywords and using wording that will cause actual people to click on your signature link. If you're a regular forum poster you get a decent bit of traffic from forum signatures.
